App Screenshot Typography Guide
Store visitors scan screenshot galleries quickly and often see them at a small size. Typography should make the benefit obvious before it adds personality. Start with hierarchy and legibility, then refine the brand expression.
Step-by-step workflow
Write concise headlines
Use a direct benefit or outcome. Remove filler words and avoid explaining multiple features in one slide.
Create a simple hierarchy
Use one primary headline style and, only when necessary, one supporting text style.
Control line length
Break headlines intentionally and avoid narrow columns that create one-word lines.
Build sufficient contrast
Test text against the actual background and add a restrained overlay or panel when the image is busy.
Test at thumbnail size
Zoom out until the slide resembles its store presentation. The main message should remain clear.
Preflight checklist
- Use one clear headline per slide
- Limit font families and weights
- Keep line breaks intentional
- Meet readable color contrast
- Proofread after the final resize
